Navigating the Document
In addition to using interactive Rubrics during assessment, Waypoint 2 also allows you to view a student's document and annotate it with custom, personal feedback comments. Annotating, searching, and resizing the document, as well as other document management features are located in the document toolbar:
Page Scrolling
The Waypoint document preview provides multiple ways to navigate through a document. The first way is to use the scrollbar, located on the right side of the document. Another way is to use the page listing, located on the left side of the document (1). Clicking on a page number will automatically take you there. You can also input a page number or use the previous and next arrows, located above the document (2). Lastly, you can use the Pages feature to select a page's thumbnail image. More information on Pages can be found below.
Notes
As you annotate the document, adding custom feedback, you can review your comments through the Notes feature. Selecting Notes from the document toolbar lists all of the comments you've added:
Options on the left-hand side allow you to organize and filter these comments by various views, including; date in which the comments were added, comments by page and more. This helps you review all of your comments on one page, without having to scroll through the entire document.
Pages
Selecting Pages from the document toolbar presents a thumbnail image of each page:
By clicking on a thumbnail image, the document preview automatically loads that page for your viewing.
Find (Search)
Use the Find feature to search the document for text. A list of the pages where the text is found displays, allowing you to click on the page number and navigate to that area.
Bookmarking
If your document uses Microsoft Word header styles, you will be able to use Bookmarks to navigate through sections. Opening the Bookmark menu will display the different sections (created through header styles) and the pages they are found on. Clicking the bookmark automatically takes you to that area.
Annotate Display
As you annotate the document, your comments will appear on-screen. From the document toolbar, you are able to decide how the comments display:
Your choices include:
- Free form (floating anywhere on the document), allowing you to move them across the page
- Right aligned, anchored to the right-side margins of the document
- Footer, listed at the footer of the document
Resizing the document
Use the Zoom menu to adjust how the document displays on screen. If you do not see the entire document on-screen, try adjusting these settings:
